The Art of Illumination: AURA’s Ritual of Candle Creation
Written byTom Pendrey -Co-Founder of AURA Candle Bar | Chandler

At AURA Candle Bar, every candle is made with intention. What appears simple - a flame, a fragrance, a vessel - is the result of a thoughtful, hands-on process designed to honor scent, craftsmanship, and experience.
Each AURA candle moves through a carefully guided, multi-step ritual led by our trained chandlers. From the moment a vessel is selected to the final polish before it leaves the studio, every detail plays a role in how the candle looks, burns, and fills a space with fragrance.
Below is a look inside our candle-creation process - and why each step matters.
Phase I: Foundation & Fragrance Design
Every candle begins with balance - between form, fragrance, and function.
1. Vessel Selection
Each candle starts with a vessel chosen not only for its aesthetic, but for how it supports heat distribution, burn performance, and fragrance release.
2. Fragrance Blending
Our fragrance blends are formulated with precision to ensure clarity, depth, and true scent throw. This step sets the tone for the entire candle experience.
3. Wax Preparation
We use AURA’s proprietary coconut–apricot wax blend, selected for its clean burn, creamy appearance, and exceptional ability to carry fragrance.
Phase II: Pouring & Setting
This is where scent and wax come together.
4. Wax & Fragrance Integration
Fragrance oils are blended into the wax at controlled temperatures to ensure proper binding and consistency.
5. Hand Pouring
Each candle is poured by hand, allowing for careful control of fill level and finish.
6. Cooling & Resting
The candle is left to cool slowly, allowing the wax structure to set evenly and prepare for finishing.
Phase III: Precision Finishing
Details matter - especially in how a candle burns.
7. Wick Centering
Wicks are centered by hand to ensure a steady flame and even melt pool.
8. Wick Trimming & Surface Refinement
Multiple trims and surface adjustments are made to support a clean first burn and polished appearance.
9. Glazing & Final Touches
A gentle glaze smooths the surface, while the vessel is cleaned and inspected for perfection.
Phase IV: Identity & Presentation
The candle becomes unmistakably AURA.
10. Hand-Applied Labels
Labels are placed by hand, aligning each candle with its fragrance identity.
11. Final Polish & Packaging
Each candle is polished, wrapped, and prepared for its next chapter - whether that’s a gift, a ritual, or a moment of quiet.
Fragrance Curing: Why Time Matters
Once poured, a candle isn’t finished - it’s curing.
Over the next 7 days, fragrance oils continue to settle and distribute throughout the wax. This curing period allows scent molecules to stabilize, resulting in stronger cold throw, richer hot throw, and a more balanced fragrance experience over the life of the candle.
Much like perfume or wine, fragrance reveals its true character with time.
AURA’s Curated Fragrance Collection
This process supports a fragrance library of over 110 carefully curated scents, sourced from trusted fragrance houses around the world. Each fragrance is designed to layer beautifully, perform consistently, and evoke memory, mood, or place.
The ritual behind each candle ensures every fragrance - whether floral, woody, fresh, or resinous - burns as it was intended.
Crafted with Purpose
At AURA, candle making is more than a process - it’s a practice. One that blends artistry, science, and care to create candles that perform beautifully and feel personal.
This is how AURA candles are made - and why every flame tells a story.
